HELLO, is this what you are looking for?

Words of welcome from the editor

Hello, my name is David Milo Davidson and I have taken the initiative to this blog.

Of all things in this world, I would describe myself as a music lover, not only because I like to listen to all kinds of music in various genres, but because I truly believe that music can–and has–changed the world.

This blog is mainly curated, meaning that most of the posts are links to other sites or videos from third-party contributors. This is to create a platform where information about great music is gathered in one place and to serve as an inspirational and enlightening source for other music lovers and music geeks.

However, we will occasionally bring original stories. These stories will often be audio/visual micro-docs (mini documentaries) with personal interviews and unique insights into the lives of the musicians.

The original True material will be tagged with a “T” like one of these:

On the top of the site you will find a variety of inspirational links to stuff that have little or nothing to do with music. I believe that everything is connected and music never stands alone.

Sonny Rollins, the great jazz tenor saxophonist says: “Music is a force of nature”. And that’s our motto, music has to come from a core. It’s abstract I know, but I think it becomes obvious when it does.
I see genre definitions mainly as specious boxes that serves as rough guides. I’d rather not use genre definitions, and you will also find all sorts of music represented on the blog, presented by people with all sorts of perspective on music

But what I truly believe is summed up perfectly clear in this quote by the late great Allan Lomax (The guy who is responsible for the native American blues to become recorded, released and known to all).

We now have cultural machines so powerful that one singer can reach everybody in the world, and make all the other singers feel inferior because they’re not like him. Once that gets started, he gets backed by so much cash and so much power that he becomes a monstrous invader from outer space, crushing the life out of all the other human possibilities. My life has been devoted to opposing that tendency.  – Alan Lomax

This blog is a search for that core music, now–as a journey into the past–and as a peek into the future.

Best Regards–may the force of nature be with you
